Principal Product Manager, Payments
MarginEdge is looking for a Principal Product Manager to deliver amazing software and world-class service to the restaurant industry. We serve owners and operators of independent restaurants to streamline their operations, save time and money, and allow them to focus on food and hospitality (and not paperwork). Our goal is that a restaurant can pay any vendor through a MarginEdge payment product and that their AP process can be 100% automated.
As the Principal Product Manager for Payments, you will work with restaurant operators, accountants, cross-functional partners, and engineers to solve real customer problems. You will release new features that streamline and automate how operators pay their vendors, manage their cash flow, and run a financially healthy restaurant. You will own the strategy and roadmap for new payments products, blending customer insights and company strategy to meet our business objectives. You will be a highly visible leader in the company, owning a set of KPIs and being the face of your product internally and externally.
MarginEdge: Where hospitality meets technology
As a team built by former (and current!) restaurant operators, our mission is to bring operators the same energy, attention to detail, and passion that they bring to their guests. Our culture is deeply rooted in service, partially because that’s where so many of our team come from (including everyone on our Business Development team), but also because we believe it is just the right way to run a business. We design our software with profound empathy for the complexity of running a restaurant, and the goal of making the magic just a little easier for operators by taking the complex (read: very annoying) back office tasks off their plate, while empowering them with real-time data.
Our founders share a deep history in both owning and operating restaurants and in building successful tech companies. We are venture-backed and serve 7,000+ restaurants across the US and Canada.
We enable restaurants to make magic while knowing we are doing the same for them.
We have the utmost respect for our clients and because of this, we are unable to hire their current employees.
What type of responsibilities will I have?
Lead product strategy discussions and define the product vision for payments. Base recommendations on company goals, user problems, user data, and product knowledge.
Partner with go-to-market teams to rollout features that drive desired outcomes. Gather feedback on feature adoption as it occurs.
Own the roadmap for your team(s). Build consensus on the most important problems to solve and the order to solve them. Monitor the impact of product efforts on key outcomes.
Develop requirements and mockups, translating customer needs into actionable solutions. Represent the voice-of-customer in all conversations when evaluating priority and implementation.
Serve as the product expert for your area. Triage feature requests and product questions from all sources.
Explore novel solutions or ideas for improvements to the product for further validation and potential development.
Be an active participant in the SDLC and contribute to high-quality delivery. Work with developers to refine the feature, optimizing customer value with feasibility
What qualifications or skills are required?
10+ years in product management or a related role
Fintech experience with payments, procure-to-pay, credit/debit cards, money movement and/or AP automation tools
Experience establishing prioritization across competing priorities, optimizing for customer and business outcomes
Proficient in making data-driven decisions, including analyzing data and selecting the right data to analyze
Demonstrated ability to have user empathy and focus on problem-solving from their perspectives
History of leading and launching large projects across multiple months/quarters with a high level of autonomy and successful outcomes
Stellar collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to influence without authority
Nice to Haves:
- Prior startup experience
