Senior Product Manager
MarginEdge is seeking a Senior Product Manager to own and evolve our Restaurant Inventory Management platform, including the SmartScale—a precision hardware product tightly integrated with our software. Together, they make restaurant inventory easy, accurate and quick - minutes instead of hours and highly accurate down to the gram. All sync’d in real-time across beer, wine, liquor, and key prep items—capabilities that are not offered by any other solution in the restaurant industry.
Our inventory platform is part of a broader SaaS solution delivered through web and mobile applications, built specifically for restaurant operators. We help restaurants eliminate manual, error-prone back-office work and replace it with reliable, real-time data they can actually trust. As the inventory system expands beyond counting and into the prep workflow, the SmartScale will play a central role in easily and accurately capturing a single source of truth for inventory.
As a Senior Product Manager, you’ll work closely with many external stakeholders, including restaurant owners, GMs, Head Chefs, Managers, and Bartenders. You’ll act as the primary liaison between these external stakeholders and internal stakeholders, including engineers, designers, operations, sales, and others, to maximize customer value and business impact. You’ll own the vision, strategy, and roadmap for inventory and SmartScale products, balancing hardware, software, and workflow design to solve real operational problems for restaurants at scale.
MarginEdge: Where hospitality meets technology
As a team built by former (and current!) restaurant operators, our mission is to bring operators the same energy, attention to detail, and passion that they bring to their guests. Our culture is deeply rooted in service, partially because that’s where so many of our team come from (including everyone on our Business Development team), but also because we believe it is just the right way to run a business. We design our software with profound empathy for the complexity of running a restaurant and the goal of making the magic just a little easier for operators by taking the complex (read: very annoying) back-office tasks off their plates, while empowering them with real-time data.
Our founders share a deep history in both owning and operating restaurants and in building successful tech companies. We are venture-backed and serve 10,000+ restaurants across the US and Canada.
We enable restaurants to make magic while knowing we are doing the same for them.
We have the utmost respect for our clients and because of this, we are unable to hire their current employees.
What type of responsibilities will I have?
Own the vision, strategy, and roadmap for MarginEdge's inventory platform. Build consensus on the most important efforts to proceed with from a business and technical perspective.
Make strategic prioritization decisions while ensuring alignment with leadership and cross-functional teams. Base prioritization decisions on company goals, user problems, user data, and product knowledge.
Conduct regular user interviews and site visits with users to understand workflow challenges and opportunities.
Maintain regular external customer interaction (both virtual and on-site) with restaurant operators to gather insights on inventory and other backoffice needs.
Analyze usage data to identify potential efficiency gains and workflow bottlenecks.
Translate customer feedback and data insights into actionable product requirements. Represent the voice-of-customer in all conversations when evaluating priority and implementation.
Work with Design to prototype and iterate on solutions for internal and external user workflows.
Create detailed product requirements for new features and enhancements.
Work closely with Engineering to understand technical capabilities and constraints and refine requirements, optimizing customer value with feasibility.
Collaborate extensively with Product Marketing and Operations teams to successfully launch new features and process improvements as well as collect feedback on those new features to ensure they are driving expected outcomes.
Maintain relationships and act as the primary point-of-contact with hardware vendors. Source new hardware vendors as needed.
Work with Data Analytics team to build out reporting on features launched so that you can measure whether they are driving desired outcomes.
Monitor and assess the performance of the inventory system and SmartScale to inform future development.
Serve as the product expert for inventory. Triage new issues, feature requests, and product questions from all sources.
Be an active participant in the Software Development Lifecycle and contribute to high-quality delivery.
What qualifications or skills are required?
5-10 years in product management or a related business or technical role (business analyst, product owner, software engineer).
Familiar with the capabilities of modern LLMs and how to integrate them into innovative products
Experience establishing prioritization across competing priorities, optimizing for business outcomes.
Demonstrated ability to have user empathy and focus on problem-solving from their perspectives.
Experience leading and launching large projects across multiple months/quarters with a high level of autonomy.
A willingness to roll up your sleeves and spend time with our customers in restaurants, gaining an extremely deep first-hand understanding of the problem space.

Experience building, designing, or otherwise working with software for restaurant owners and operators.

Our dream is to make the magic just a little easier for operators and their teams. We believe in crazy things like knowing how much waste your kitchen is producing and what your total spend is during the period. Solving these kinds of problems is really freaking hard to do, which is why we develop cutting-edge technology that answers these questions with data science.
