Senior Product Designer II
At MarginEdge, we’re building tools that make it easier for restaurant operators to succeed. Whether it’s gaining clearer insights, simplifying day-to-day tasks, or reducing back-office friction, our goal is to support the people who keep restaurants running. Our tools help turn chaos into clarity in the back office, and we’re just getting started.
We’re looking for a Senior Product Designer to lead end-to-end design efforts across our Kitchen RMS platform, working closely with product managers and engineers to turn complex workflows and messy data into intuitive, user-centered experiences.
We’re a small, collaborative team, and we’re looking for someone who can take the lead—diving deep into the product, asking the right questions, and showing initiative in the face of ambiguity. You’ll own your work from discovery to delivery, mentor teammates, and help shape how we approach design as we grow.
If you’re excited about designing thoughtful, practical solutions for a fast-paced, hospitality-driven world, we’d love to meet you.
MarginEdge: Where hospitality meets technology
As a team built by former (and current!) restaurant operators, our mission is to bring operators the same energy, attention to detail, and passion that they bring to their guests. Our culture is deeply rooted in service, partially because that’s where so many of our team come from (including everyone on our Business Development team), but also because we believe it is just the right way to run a business. We design our software with profound empathy for the complexity of running a restaurant, and the goal of making the magic just a little easier for operators by taking the complex (read: very annoying) back office tasks off their plate, while empowering them with real-time data.
Our founders share a deep history in both owning and operating restaurants and in building successful tech companies. We are venture-backed and serve 10,000+ restaurants across the US and Canada.
We enable restaurants to make magic while knowing we are doing the same for them.
We have the utmost respect for our clients and because of this, we are unable to hire their current employees.
What type of responsibilities will I have?
- Lead the design process across our Kitchen RMS teams—from research and wireframes to polished UI and handoff
- Partner closely with product and engineering to define problems, validate ideas, and ship high-impact solutions
- Take initiative to understand how our product works and how our users think leveraging research, testing, and hands-on exploration
- Communicate your thinking clearly through wireframes, flows, and prototypes, and bring it to life with clean, intentional UI
- Use data, experimentation, and good instincts to refine your work and measure impact
- Provide feedback and mentorship to other designers to help level up the team
- Offer hands-on guidance to our associate designer to ensure alignment, quality, and efficient collaboration across teams
- Design AI-powered experiences that streamline workflows and deliver meaningful value—while using AI tools to enhance your own design process
- Help evolve our design system and improve how we work as a team
What qualifications or skills are required?
- 8+ years of experience as a UX or product designer in an agile environment
- Strong systems thinking and a track record of owning complex design problems from start to finish
- Solid grasp of UX best practices and design patterns—and the judgment to know when to follow them or break them
- Ability to ramp up quickly in new product areas, ask great questions, and frame problems clearly
- Sharp communication and collaboration skills, especially in ambiguous or fast-moving environments
- Experience planning and conducting user research, and knowing when (and how much) is needed
- Proficiency with design & prototyping tools, and documenting designs for development (we’re using Figma + Jira and experimenting with AI-based platforms)
- Familiarity with modern web and mobile platform constraints
- A strong portfolio that shows clear thinking, user empathy, and polished execution
Nice to Haves:
- Bachelor’s degree in Design, Computer Science, or a related field
- Familiarity with HTML/CSS/JS, Storybook, AI-assisted prototyping tools, or Jira
- Experience in a venture-based startup or growth-stage environment
- Experience working in or around restaurants or hospitality
What’s it like to work for MarginEdge?
Imagine the fun of a great restaurant - surrounded by a team of people (including some that you help to manage!) who care about hospitality, care about quality, and care about each other - then subtract the long nights, weekends, drunk customers at the bar...et voila, MarginEdge!
We work hard, we work fast and we fuel our work with a commitment of transparency from leadership, straight talk and trust between teams. We believe that the best people do their best work when they feel empowered - so whether you are remote or in our office (likely eating a catered lunch from our clients in our baller, brand new penthouse HQ in Ballston) you get to work with your manager to call your shot on what works best for you. Did we mention it has a full commercial kitchen and is walking distance (covered walking, that is) from the metro?

Our dream is to make the magic just a little easier for operators and their teams. We believe in crazy things like knowing how much waste your kitchen is producing and what your total spend is during the period. Solving these kinds of problems is really freaking hard to do, which is why we develop cutting-edge technology that answers these questions with data science.
