Director of Partnerships
Ready to lend your incredible experience to accelerate our existing (of the hockey stick varietal) growth while also finding channels and strategies to maximize efficiency?
Yes? Perf. Keep reading.
This role will own our partnership strategy with the SVP of Marketing and Partnerships. We have a very (very) good thing going with highly efficient partnership-driven growth, a kick ass team and an enormous amount of open road ahead of us. We are incredibly proud of our partnership ecosystem and looking for someone to continue to grow the relationships we have and help us discover new ways to expand our strategic partnership landscape.
We are looking for someone who is a connector and can spot moments of market alignment and partnership magic by building traditional referral partners, product partnerships and exploring M&A opportunities. Under the hood of this strategic connector, we want to see a meticulous measurer. Someone who is willing to take big swings with the caveat that we have to be able to understand the outcome and drop things fast when they don’t clear the fence.
You will report to the SVP of Marketing and Partnerships and act as an active thought partner in all things growth.
MarginEdge: Where hospitality meets technology
As a team built by former (and current!) restaurant operators, our mission is to bring operators the same energy, attention to detail, and passion that they bring to their guests. Our culture is deeply rooted in service, partially because that’s where so many of our team come from (including everyone on our Business Development team), but also because we believe it is just the right way to run a business. We design our software with profound empathy for the complexity of running a restaurant, and the goal of making the magic just a little easier for operators by taking the complex (read: very annoying) back office tasks off their plate, while empowering them with real-time data.
Our founders share a deep history in both owning and operating restaurants and in building successful tech companies. We are venture-backed and serve 10,000+ restaurants across the US and Canada.
We enable restaurants to make magic while knowing we are doing the same for them.
We have the utmost respect for our clients and because of this, we are unable to hire their current employees.
What type of responsibilities will I have?
- As a member of our leadership team, you will understand the work and goals of other departments and find ways to align our growth strategy with the priorities of the organization.
- You will harness the individual power of the incredible members of our team to mind moments where 1+1=1000.
- You will be the author of our partnership strategy, using all you know about relationships, strategic alignment and the hospitality tech ecosystem to continue to build this exceptionally important channel.
- You understand restaurants and our space and can see where aligned organizations and products can help build our community and accelerate our mission of empowering operators.
What qualifications or skills are required?
- 6-8 years relevant experience with HubSpot, Salesforce, Broadline Vendors, Restaurant Point of Sale providers and Hospitality Technology
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
- Management experience (with a wake of glowing reviews from previous teams!)
- Self-professed hospitality zealotry with experience building partnerships in a high-growth environment.
Nice to Haves:
- A track record of getting things done efficiently in a way that builds the teams around you and builds bridges between stakeholders and departments.
- A confident, execution-oriented mindset married with the humility and empathy required to craft systems that meet the needs of the team.
- Proven experience in designing, negotiating and finalizing contracts, including partnership agreements and revenue-sharing structures.
- Experience building and managing to key performance metrics and a fluency in measuring partnership outcomes.
- A go-big-or-go-home mindset complemented with data savvy and an aptitude for analytics. In our culture of experimentation we need the willingness to risk, matched with the ability to measure, and the awareness to (quickly) leave ego at the door when things don’t work.
- Experience in the software industry
- Experience in the restaurant industry
- Experience in M&A
- Local to the DMV
What’s it like to work for MarginEdge?
Imagine the fun of a great restaurant - surrounded by a team of people (including some that you help to manage!) who care about hospitality, care about quality, and care about each other - then subtract the long nights, weekends, drunk customers at the bar...et voila, MarginEdge!
We work hard, we work fast and we fuel our work with a commitment of transparency from leadership, straight talk and trust between teams. We believe that the best people do their best work when they feel empowered - so whether you are remote or in our office (likely eating a catered lunch from our clients in our baller, brand new penthouse HQ in Ballston) you get to work with your manager to call your shot on what works best for you. Did we mention it has a full commercial kitchen and is walking distance (covered walking, that is) from the metro?
